We’ve received a number of questions about how to control speed while going down hills. Given the ice that sometimes exists on our local ski trails, that’s a pretty good question!
This page is still under construction, but I want to put some things down while I’m thinking of them.
Possible strategies:
- Snowplow (pizza wedge! pizza wedge!)
- Linked turns
- 1 ski out of the track
- sidestep
- walk down the hill
- If you are not slowing down, keep your skis flat when you are running straight
- Ski the Cougar Loop clockwise, not counter-clockwise!
