I've never been to Stake or Logan Lakes, but they are on my list! It makes for a popular trip with some of our club members.

From one of our earlier trips: This high altitude ski destination offers three different settings to ski in.  It is less than five hours from Bellingham on good, well-maintained roads.  We will be staying at the fabulous Highland House B&B in Logan Lake, BC. offering 5 luxury bedrooms with 2 beds and private full bathrooms. This B&B was built to house the managers of the nearby pit mine and they spared no expenses building it. This place is really nice!  The cost includes meals (hearty breakfasts with many choices, sack trail lunches, substantial dinners, special dietary needs accommodated).  The outdoor hot tub and setting are as outstanding as the rest of the B&B.  To visit their web site go to:  www.highlandhouse.ca .

  5 min. from our B&B, Logan Lake at 1180 meters (base) has 36 kilometers of skate and classic track.  Trail fee is $10 cash.  They have 2 km of night-lit groomed trails.  On the web go to http://highlandvalleyoutdoorassociation.com/ .  20 min. from our B&B, Stake Lake at 1315 meters (base) has 60 kilometers of skate and classic track. Trail fee is $15 cash or credit card.  It features a large warming hut.  On the web go to overlanderskiclub.com .  1 hr. from our B&B, Kane Valley at 1160 meters (base) has 50 kilometers of classic and un-groomed trails.  Trail fee is $10 cash.  It can be skied on the way up and/or on the way back. 

• Stake Lake - 'ultra-groomed'; 60 km groomed ski trails, 5 km dog-friendly trails, 12 km snowshoe trails;
• Logan Lake - 'semi-groomed'; 36 km ski and snowshoe trails; Pictures; unfortunately, the Logan Lake trails were badly damaged by wildfire in 2021. The site reports as of Nov 1, 2021: All Recreational Trails & Gun Range are CLOSED until further notice
  Due to extensive damage at both sites caused by the Tremont Creek wildfire. Please stay out of these areas until they have been cleared as safe to re-enter. We will notify all members & update the website when this is the case. Thank-you for your patience.
• Kane Valley - 'seldom-groomed'; "The ski trails follow old logging roads and skid trails through open timber and across natural grassy slopes. Our trails are not suitable for skate-skiing, but great for classic skiing on wilderness groomed trails."
• Location: Logan Lake is 35 miles SW of Kamloops, BC; it's 191 miles from Bellingham. Less than 5 hours from Bellingham if all goes according to plan.
• Elevation: Logan Lake: ~4100 ft; Kane Valley base elevation: 3800 ft.

• Driving: It's in the mountains and it's wintertime. Better be prepared! Snow tires are required Canadian by law. And bring chains.
